Website Images: The Hidden Sunk Cost

The search to find, size, and brand images for my websites feels like an anchor tethered to time and wallet.

The plethora of free image options creates noise.

The paid image sites are expensive. Few offer Image exclusivity.

Despite all the options it can be difficult to find images that represent the subject.

Worst of all, seeing one of the curated images on someone else’s website is disheartening.

My criteria for website images:

  • Unique
  • Inexpensive
  • Fast to create
  • On brand
  • On topic
  • Endless supply

I’ve found success using old images that are a part of the public domain. This checks the unique box. But many other challenges remain.
